About the role
This is a Fixed Term position (12-18 months) based residentially in Vancouver, B.C.
The Senior Geologist – Generative role reports directly to the Group Manager Exploration – North America while offering an exceptional opportunity to be a part of the research and exploration team.
You will adhere to exploration best practices and regulations, health and safety practices relating to exploration. You will bring a diverse knowledge of gold and copper deposits to the role. Understanding of innovation and industry-leading best practices is essential. Along with an established reputation for operating within a culture committed to safety, to environmentally sustainable operations in a socially responsible manner.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Innovate and creatively find solutions to complex problems while undertaking data analysis of exploration data
- Supervising field programs, as required, such as surficial geochemistry sampling, geological mapping, and drilling (including core handling and logging)
- Oversee North American databases, ensuring commitment to strong data management protocols and QAQC
- Liaise with Group Discovery staff, fostering strong, positive communications and teamwork, including but not limited to geoscience, geology and resource estimation, sustainability, and contractors
- Deliver weekly and monthly exploration report as required by the Group Manager Exploration – North America
- Coordinate detailed project reviews in North America for both Greenfield and Advanced projects, employing strong mineral systems-based, process-driven approach
- Provide leadership as part of the Group Discovery team, to foster motivation, empowerment, and trust in safety, health, environment and community matters
About you
As the Senior Geologist, you will have at minimum a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Earth Sciences and be a registered professional geoscientist (P.Geo.).
It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- 7+ years of exploration experience within a diverse surface environment
- Previous field experience and knowledge of gold and copper deposits
- Exposure to business development and project valuations would be an asset in this role, as well as having project management experience on both Greenfield and Advanced Projects
- Deep understanding of innovation and industry leading best practices including the oversight of drilling contractors and possessing abilities to supervise core handling and data collection (logging)
- Technical specialization in 3D geological and structural modelling and applied geochemistry are highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of Seequent software platforms (Leapfrog and Central), and other software programs including QGIS, AcQuire and Micromine, as well as being proficient in Microsoft Office 365
- Strong network of industry connections in North America
