This role will work a 5/2 roster from the Brisbane or Sydney office with 2 days WFH option available.

About the Role

 

As the Principal Community Affairs and Native Titles, you will play a strategic and high‑impact role leading Evolution’s external engagement, Native Title and Indigenous affairs work across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll operate at the interface of governance, law, risk and performance, ensuring our agreements and engagements are robust, auditable and value‑creating.

 

Your work will involve:

 

  • Leading complex negotiations and consultations with Traditional Owner groups and government stakeholders, including drafting, reviewing and operationalising agreement terms, milestones and implementation plans.
  • Designing and maintaining governance frameworks for Native Title, cultural heritage and community affairs (policies, standards, RACI, decision rights) and integrating them into Group risk and ESG processes.
  • Supporting risk reporting, governance activities and assurance processes, including maintaining risk registers, controls and Board/ELT reporting.
  • Coordinating agreement lifecycle management including due diligence, approvals, execution, variations and performance monitoring.
  • Establishing source‑of‑truth records, document control and analytics dashboards to track obligations, commitments and KPIs.
  • Developing and delivering cross‑cultural capability and reconciliation initiatives aligned to internal strategies and action plans.
  • Engaging in industry advocacy and representing Evolution in forums and working groups to influence policy and best practice.

 

 

About You

 

You are a senior community affairs and Indigenous relations professional with deep experience navigating Native Title, cultural heritage and complex stakeholder environments. You bring strong capability in consultation and negotiation, including shaping agreement structures, drafting obligations and managing performance against defined milestones. You have governance and risk expertise, with the ability to build and maintain frameworks, registers and controls, while preparing clear, decision‑ready reporting for senior leaders. Your operational understanding enables you to embed agreement obligations into site plans and schedules, supported by disciplined document control, data accuracy and analytics. You are collaborative, culturally respectful and able to work with high autonomy, bringing resilience, sound judgment and the ability to manage sensitive issues in a calm and solutions‑focused manner. Experience developing or delivering cross‑cultural education or reconciliation initiatives is highly regarded, as is your ability to build trusted relationships with Traditional Owner groups, government bodies and internal stakeholders.
