Apprentice - Diesel Fitter
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the Apprentice Diesel Fitter / Auto Electrician will learn to service, repair and maintain a wide range of heavy mobile mining equipment across Ernest Henry’s surface and underground workshops. Across the four-year Apprenticeship Program, you will receive hands-on training, support from experienced tradespeople, and a nationally recognised trade qualification through a Registered Training Organisation.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Assisting with routine servicing and repairs on heavy mobile equipment
- Learning to diagnose and repair faults in mechanical and/or electrical systems
- Supporting breakdown repairs, component change-outs and preventative maintenance
- Maintaining housekeeping and workshop safety standards
- Accurately recording maintenance tasks in the CMMS
- Participating in safety initiatives and completing JSEAs and hazard reporting
- Attending TAFE and completing all formal training requirements
- Demonstrating behaviours aligned with Evolution Mining’s values
This role is offered on an 8/6 Dayshift roster (Years 1–3) and 8/6 (days) – 7/7 (nights) roster in Year 4.
About you
You are mechanically or electrically minded, motivated and passionate about working with machinery and equipment. You enjoy problem solving, hands-on work and learning from experienced tradespeople. You bring a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a commitment to building a long-term career in mining. You will bring:
- A genuine interest in mechanical or auto-electrical work
- Completion of Year 10 (or currently completing)
- A current manual Driver’s Licence (or commitment to obtain)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions
- A safety-first mindset and willingness to learn all procedures
- Initiative, reliability and commitment to completing a four-year apprenticeship
