Auto Electrician

About the role

 

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the Auto Electrician is responsible for carrying out auto‑electrical repairs, diagnostics, and improvement work across the underground mobile fleet at Ernest Henry. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing electrical systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient mining operations, while contributing to continuous improvement across fleet performance and asset reliability.

You will work as part of an experienced underground mobile maintenance team, delivering high‑quality workmanship and accurate fault‑finding using OEM diagnostic tools and systems.

 

Key responsibilities for the role include:

 

  • Carrying out auto‑electrical repairs, fault‑finding, and diagnostics on underground and surface mobile equipment
  • Performing planned maintenance services, inspections, and breakdown repairs across the fleet
  • Using OEM diagnostic tooling and software to adjust parameters and resolve faults
  • Reading and interpreting auto‑electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Diagnosing and repairing air‑conditioning systems in line with regulatory requirements
  • Completing component change‑outs on UG, heavy surface, and light vehicle fleets
  • Identifying hazards and managing risks using Take 5s, JSEAs, and formal risk assessments
  • Maintaining accurate work order records and using CMMS and computer systems effectively

 

 

About you

 

You are a trade‑qualified Auto Electrician with experience in mining or heavy industry environments and strong diagnostic capability across mobile equipment. You take pride in delivering safe, compliant work and are confident working independently or as part of a maintenance team in a production‑driven environment.

You bring strong technical skills, a proactive safety mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

 

You will also bring:

 

  • A nationally accredited Automotive Electrical Trade Certificate
  • A current C‑class driver’s licence
  • Automotive Cert II Air Conditioning licence with understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Experience using OEM diagnostic tools and software
  • Strong fault‑finding skills across electrical and air‑conditioning systems
  • Experience with Normet, Sandvik, CAT, or Epiroc equipment (highly desirable)
  • Competency or willingness to complete S1, S2, and S3 (highly regarded)
  • Strong computer skills including CMMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
