At Ernest Henry, you can choose what suits your priorities. Work an attractive fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) roster from Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns or a drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) roster and take advantage of our top-class camp, or live local in the close-knit community of Cloncurry and be home every night.

This roster is 8/6 (dayshift only) and a 12-hour shift.

About the role

 

As a Mine Engineer you will turn near-term plans into safe, reliable production at Ernest Henry. You will own the weekly plan and rolling 3-month plan, keep designs practical through regular underground checks, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with operators and leaders to remove roadblocks fast.

 

Key responsibilities include

 

  • Leading with safety: applying our health, safety and security standards in every task and decision.
  • Validating the plan in the field: completing regular underground inspections to confirm status, progress and quality.
  • Building and presenting plans: coordinating inputs and communicating the weekly and 3-month plans.
  • Designing for delivery: preparing drill and charge designs to meet targets, including service holes, vent rises and ore-passes.
  • Managing cave performance: direct drill/charge/fire locations to maintain broken stock.
  • Improving what matters: run short-term projects and investigations to lift performance.
  • Keeping everyone aligned: update progress and reporting so decisions stay data driven.

 

 

About you

 

You are a pragmatic mine engineer who turns plans into safe, executable work. You bring underground engineering experience, work confidently in modern mine design tools (ideally Deswik), and communicate clearly with crews and leaders to keep everyone aligned.

 

  • Tertiary engineering qualification - Mining preferred.
  • Underground mine engineering experience.
  • Clear communicator - verbal, written, numerical and graphical.
  • Builds strong working relationships with peers and leaders.
  • Self-directed; delivers individual, team and organisational goals.
  • Leads with safety; upholds health, safety and security standards.
