At Ernest Henry, you can choose what suits your priorities. Work an attractive fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) roster from Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns or a drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) roster and take advantage of our top-class camp, or live local in the close-knit community of Cloncurry and be home every night.

This roster is 8/6 and a 12-hour day.

About the role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer at Ernest Henry, you will lead the delivery of our sustaining capital portfolio. You will own projects from the initial concept through to final commissioning, focusing on systems such as crushers, conveyors, dewatering, and ventilation. This site-wide role offers broad exposure to underground operations and complex fixed plant assets. You will proactively identify and implement improvements to make our operations safer and more efficient.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering mechanical projects on time, within budget, and to a high safety standard.
• Designing and reviewing mechanical systems and site infrastructure.
• Managing contractors and tenders to ensure clear scopes and quality delivery.
• Performing technical calculations for in-house engineering solutions.
• Acting as a technical advisor to our maintenance and operations crews.
• Building strong relationships to understand and solve site challenges.
• Reporting project status and risks in a clear, straightforward way.

About You

You are a proactive engineer who enjoys both technical design and field execution. You stay calm under pressure and communicate in clear, simple language. You value a supportive culture where everyone pitches in to help each other succeed.

You'll bring:

• A Mechanical Engineering degree or a strong mechanical trade background with proven project management experience.
• A proven track record of delivering projects through construction and commissioning.
• Technical knowledge of mining systems, including material handling and pumping.
• Strong stakeholder skills with the ability to listen, influence, and bring people together.
• A "can-do" attitude and the ability to simplify complex technical ideas for any audience.
