Reliability Engineer - Mechanical

About the role

 

Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, the Reliability Engineer – Mechanical works closely with maintenance and operations teams to improve the reliability, availability, and performance of mechanical plant and equipment across site. The role focuses on developing and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, supporting breakdown and scheduled maintenance activities, and delivering reliability-based improvement initiatives across fixed plant and infrastructure assets.

 

This position provides engineering input across crushing, conveying, dewatering, hoisting, ventilation, and concentrator assets, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

Key responsibilities for the role include:

 

  • Developing and maintaining reliability strategies and programs for mechanical assets
  • Implementing preventive and predictive maintenance tactics to improve equipment performance
  • Supporting maintenance teams with engineering input for planned and breakdown maintenance
  • Delivering reliability-based improvement projects from scoping through execution
  • Analysing asset performance data, trends, and condition monitoring results
  • Managing technical documentation, drawings, and work pack quality
  • Preparing asset reports, including end-of-month reliability reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant Australian standards and regulatory requirements

 

 

About you

 

You are a mechanical engineer with experience in mining or heavy industry environments and a strong interest in asset reliability and continuous improvement. You bring sound technical capability, analytical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively across maintenance and operations teams.

 

  • You hold an engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with mechanical systems such as crushing, conveying, dewatering, hoisting, ventilation, or concentrator plant
  • Exposure to condition monitoring techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis)
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and communication skills
  • A safety-focused mindset and commitment to compliance and best practice
