Senior Mine Engineer

About the role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent – Medium Term Planning, the Senior Mining Engineer is responsible for owning and delivering the integrated mine schedule to support safe, efficient and commercially aligned underground operations.

This role sits at the centre of planning and execution, primarily ensuring alignment between medium and long-term plans, however responsible for a team of engineers delivering monthly SRFs that achieve budget plans. You will work closely with operations and technical services, while also leading and developing a small team of engineers.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Owning, generating and maintaining the Budget Schedule (1 month to 3 years).
  • Ensuring budget schedule alignment with LOM strategy.
  • Identifying schedule constraints, risks and opportunities
  • Fostering close relationships between planning/scheduling engineers and operational teams and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Optimising a completely rebuilt from the ground up Deswik schedule, utilising in-built advanced functionality
  • Leading and mentoring junior engineers

 

 

About you

 

We are looking for a technically strong Mining Engineer who brings both scheduling expertise and the ability to influence across site.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • A degree in Mining Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in underground mine planning or scheduling roles (4+ years minimum)
  • Advanced skills in the Deswik Suite (primarily Sched & IS)
  • Exposure to sublevel or cave mining methods (highly regarded)
  • Be process-driven, and have a Customer focussed mindset
  • Ability to interpret data and translate it into practical planning outcomes
  • Confident communicator who can engage across technical and operational teams
  • Proven ability to support or lead developing engineers
