Superintendent - Mining
About the role
Reporting to the Underground Manager, the Superintendent – Underground Mining plays a key leadership role in delivering safe, efficient and high-performing underground operations at Ernest Henry.
This position has been created as part of a recent restructure of the underground leadership team, designed to improve visibility, strengthen supervision, and enhance performance across crews.
You will be responsible for leading Supervisors and underground teams to deliver production outcomes while maintaining a strong focus on safety, cost and operational discipline.
This is a hands-on leadership role where success comes from being visible, engaged and accountable, not just managing from a distance.
Key responsibilities for the role include
- Leading underground mining teams to deliver production safely and efficiently
- Driving a strong safety culture and maintaining compliance with site standards
- Managing workforce performance, behaviour and accountability
- Ensuring effective crew resourcing and manning levels
- Delivering against production plans, schedules and cost targets
- Coaching and supporting Supervisors to improve leadership capability
- Working closely with technical, maintenance and geology teams
- Supporting continuous improvement across underground operations
- Building a culture aligned to safety, respect, excellence and accountability
About you
You are an experienced underground mining leader who understands how to manage teams, deliver results and maintain high standards in a demanding operational environment.
You are confident leading Supervisors, holding people accountable and creating a culture where safety and performance are non-negotiable.
Importantly, you bring a practical, visible leadership style, and are comfortable being on the ground engaging with crews and driving outcomes.
You will also bring:
- Extensive underground mining experience
- Proven leadership experience at Supervisor or Superintendent level
- Strong safety leadership capability
- Experience delivering against production and cost targets
- Ability to lead teams through change and evolving operating environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to developing people and improving team capability
