About the role
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the key focus of the Geotechnical Technician is the installation and maintenance of instrumentation systems to allow for the delivery of quality instrumentation data to Technical Services. This data is required to allow the Geotechnical Engineers to make risk-based decisions.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the seismic system
- Maintaining the winch truck, X41 and BSOC instrumentation systems
- Conducting down-hole surveys
- Downloading data from instruments and reading manual instruments (Extos, TDR's, etc)
- Ordering of equipment and supplies to allow for the installation and maintenance of the various monitoring systems
- Communicating instrumentation, including system health to the geotechnical engineers
- Assisting the geotechnical engineers with inspections or travel UG
- Assisting contractors doing pull tests
- Lifestyle friendly 8/6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville, DIDO from Mt Isa with a travel allowance or live residential in Cloncurry and receive a local living allowance
- Eligible for quarterly bonus

About You
You will be an experienced geotechnical technician, with relevant skills in low voltage instrumentation or as a qualified instrument technician. Experience working in an underground mining environment will be highly regarded. Key to your success in this role will be your demonstrated teamwork, ability to work unsupervised, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong communication skills.
