About the role

 

Reporting to the Senior Safety Advisor, the purpose of this position is to provide leadership, advice, training and practical support for all health and safety aspects in an open-cut mining, underground mining and ore processing operation.

 

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Facilitating and participating in risk assessments at all levels (WRAC, Bowties, and operational)
  • Ensuring timely closure of actions resulting from inspections, audits, and incidents
  • Collecting, storing, analyzing, tracking, and reporting health and safety performance data according to internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Assisting in the rehabilitation and return to work of employees with workplace injuries
  • Developing and delivering effective training to ensure employees are adequately trained for safe site operations
  • Providing professional advice and hands-on support to ensure effective implementation and compliance with safety and health systems, processes, and tools
  • Assisting with the annual budgeting process and manage costs to meet budget expectations
  • Leading and conducting workplace internal audits, inspections, and critical risk control verification
  • Ensuring all safety and health tasks, documents, and training comply with relevant regulations and standards

About you

 

At Evolution, we believe that developing our people is vital to our success as a business and to ensuring your time at Evolution is a highlight of your career. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate a high level of safety awareness, strategic thinking, and strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. You will have excellent time management and work prioritization skills. Experience in HS procedures, audits, and investigations is essential, and writing/reviewing H&S documentation is essential.

 

To be considered you will demonstrate/ possess:

 

  • Relevant tertiary Health & Safety qualifications (Min. Cert. IV Work Health & Safety)
  • Return to Work Certification (desirable)
  • Previous Health & Safety experience in mining or other relevant industries
  • Demonstrated experience in an operational mining environment
  • Incident Investigation (ICAM)
  • Lead Auditing qualification (desirable)
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Implement & Apply the Risk Management Process
  • National competencies in Confined Space, Working Safely at Height and High Risk Work licences (desirable)
  • Sound knowledge of NSW Mining Act, Regulations and other legislations
