The roster is 5:2 / 4:3, 10 hour day shifts. Flexible working arrangements will be considered, and this opportunity is offered as a 12 month secondment.

About the Role
This is a high impact Business Analyst role within our Commercial team at Cowal, supporting informed, disciplined and effective operational decision making across the site.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager and Commercial Superintendent, you will provide commercial insight, interrogation and analysis that directly influences operating, tactical and strategic decisions. This is a hands on, assignment driven position focused on understanding the business, challenging assumptions and improving outcomes.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver financial evaluations, business cases and trade off studies to support capital and operational decisions
• Analyse site performance through cost, variance, trend and benchmarking analysis to identify efficiency and improvement opportunities
• Support budget, forecast and Life of Mine planning, including short term forecasts
• Evaluate business improvement initiatives and validate outcomes through post implementation reviews
• Work closely with Operations to provide practical, data driven insights that improve commercial discipline
• Build strong relationships with site leadership, corporate finance and cross‑functional stakeholders
  
  

This role offers strong visibility, variety and development, with exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to genuinely influence how the operation is run.

About You
You are a commercially minded analyst who enjoys getting into the detail, asking the right questions and turning data into actionable insight.

We are seeking candidates with the ability to think commercially, analyse operational data and partner effectively with the business.

You will bring:

• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex operational and financial data
• Advanced to strong Excel skills and experience working with large data sets
• Exposure to ERP systems (Pronto preferred) and tools such as Power BI and Power Query
• The confidence to challenge assumptions and present clear, balanced recommendations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
• Experience in mining, heavy industry or similar operational environments will be highly regarded, as will backgrounds in geology, engineering, cost analysis, business improvement or operational excellence.
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Data Science or similar (desirable)
