Located near West Wyalong in central New South Wales, Cowal is a residential site where we encourage our people to live nearby and enjoy the close-knit communities and lifestyles of the surrounding areas.

This roster is 5/2, 4/3 = 9 day fortnight and a 10 hour day.

About the role 

 

In this role, you will embark on a journey to develop a rewarding career in human resources and people management while making a meaningful impact within the organization and the local community. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience through mentorship, formal training, and practical learning, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in this field. As a vital member of the People and Culture team, you will play an integral part in fostering an inclusive workplace culture and supporting initiatives that contribute to employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.

 

  • You will assist with processes such as annual performance reviews, talent management, recruitment initiatives, onboarding programs, and site-wide training and development efforts, all designed to support employee growth and organizational success.
  • Additionally, you will manage reporting, administrative tasks, and participate in projects aimed at improving employee engagement and retention, while supporting initiatives that align with the organisation’s values and priorities.
  • A strong commitment to upholding health, safety, and environmental standards, along with actively contributing to the company’s values and principles, will be essential in maintaining a safe, compliant, and thriving workplace.

About you 

 

 To be successful in this role, your willingness to grow and adapt will be key. It is important that you are open to pursuing or completing a Diploma in Human Resources to build foundational knowledge in the field. A driver's license would be advantageous, providing you with greater flexibility. While prior experience in an administration role or basic exposure to human resources functions is desirable, it is not essential, as there is room for learning and development.

 

  • You should possess strong organisational skills, including numerical literacy and the ability to plan, prioritise, and schedule work effectively. Adaptability, confidentiality, and a clear commitment to safety are critical traits to excel in this environment. Building positive relationships will also be essential, requiring confident and effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is necessary, along with a willingness to learn, take on new challenges, and contribute independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ultimately, this role offers the chance to develop your career in human resources and make a meaningful contribution to both the organisation and the local community, focusing on fostering trust, collaboration, and growth.
