Engineer - Reliability Fixed Plant

About the Role
As a Reliability Engineer – Fixed Plant at Cowal Gold Operation, you will be pivotal in improving the reliability and availability of critical processing assets, including crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, and associated infrastructure. This role focuses on advanced data analysis, condition monitoring, and defect elimination to optimise plant performance and support continuous improvement. The position operates on a 5:2/4:3 roster with 10 hour day shifts.

You will:

  • Provide technical and engineering support to maintenance and processing teams.
  • Analyse vibration, lubrication, and thermography data to deliver timely recommendations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and failure investigations to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and review asset management and maintenance strategies for fixed plant equipment.
  • Champion defect elimination and coach work groups to embed reliability practices.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, de-bottlenecking, and reliability improvement projects.
  • Liaise with OEMs and internal stakeholders to resolve equipment reliability issues.
  • Assist with budgeting and cost control measures
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and site standards while promoting a proactive reliability culture.

This position offers exposure to strategic reliability initiatives, digital transformation projects, and collaboration across maintenance, planning, and operations teams. You’ll have autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to influence long-term asset performance.

About You
You are a technically skilled professional with a passion for reliability engineering and fixed plant performance.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance and reliability within mining or heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of asset management strategies, continuous improvement concepts, and defect elimination.
  • High-level computer literacy, including advanced MS Office skills; familiarity with budgeting systems (e.g., XERAS) and CMMS (e.g., Pronto) is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret condition monitoring data and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to coach and influence teams.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
