This roster is 8/6 day and night shift

About the role

You will be responsible for the direct supervision of a crew of plant operators to achieve safety, environmental and production targets whilst ensuring all activities are carried out in conformance with Evolution Mining’s cultural, safety and environmental policies in line with all mine consents, regulations and operating procedures. 

Your duties and responsibilities although not limited to will include:

  • Assist the Superintendent - Mine Operations with supervising all mining activities (drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, rehandling etc.)
  • Deliver the prestart meeting each shift, and set up the shift board to ensure appropriate and required duties are assigned to all personnel
  • Manage safety issues and hazards that are raised by crew personnel, ensuring that such issues/hazards are logged with actions into relevant safety information systems
  • Regularly inspect the workplace to ensure that the highest safety, environmental and operational work practices are maintained and actively promote mine safety amongst the workforce
  • Be the first point of contact for employee relations issues on crew and escalate to the Superintendent - Mine Operations where necessary.
  • Complete mid-year and end-of-year Performance Reviews for all personnel on crew
  • Ensure succession planning and development of Leading Hands are set in Gold Forms and are tracked and reported to the Superintendent - Mine Operations
  • Complete Annual Leave and Personal Leave requests, and update shift diary and crew roster spreadsheet
  • Identify training opportunities for personnel, and ensure that sufficient training is undertaken to match the business needs
  • Manage incidents and emergency calls and escalate where necessary to the Superintendent - Mine Operations
  • Prepare workplace for on-coming shift, to ensure a smooth start to the proceeding shifts work 
  • Relieve the Superintendent - Mine Operations in his absence
  • Communicate workplace status and safety information to on-coming shift Foreman or Leading Hand to ensure seamless operation
  • Supervise crew personnel in a manner that promotes good personnel management and positive employee relations

 

About you

Having a minimum of Five years’ experience in a similar leadership role supervising groups of approximately 35 employees you will require the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Current Australian driver’s license
  • Cert IV TAE (desirable)
  • Prior experience supervising mining crews on shift work in an acting or substantive role
  • previous heavy equipment experience, with familiarity to open cut mining/quarry operation/road construction
  • Ability to work a panelled roster 
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to inspire and motivate large groups of people
  • Good understanding and the ability to implement mine planning information
  • Prioritise and schedule work to ensure deadlines and targets are met and exceeded
  • Experience with incident and hazard management/investigations
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Pronto or similar
