This roster will be 5/2 4/3 and a 10-hour day.

About the role

In your new role you will encounter interesting and exciting projects and take responsibility for managing Capital and OPEX Projects – within scope, on schedule, on budget and comply with appropriate standards/statutory regulations. Working in Fixed plant infrastructure, building new infrastructure such as pump stations, carry out major steel repairs on main structures and carry out major plant refurbishment.

You will also create project schedules, establish project teams and supervise contractors/consultants.

Your duties, whilst not limited to will encompass the following:

  • Implementing engineering projects and support to the maintenance operations and metallurgy personnel. 
  • Providing technical expertise, training and support to the maintenance, mining, operations and metallurgy personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, insurance recommendations and conduct regular internal/external audits
  • Run management of change, formal risk assessments as necessary
  • Develop business cases, scope of works and design improvement modifications
  • Prepare conceptual designs, investigate the technical feasibility and budget estimate for proposed projects
  • Plan project implementation work for shutdowns by liaising with electrical and mechanical supervisors and planners
  • Design reviews for projects, ensuring project adequacy and compliance to site requirements
  • Liaise with Environment/Safety departments to ensure all projects meet statutory requirements
  • Raise work orders and purchase orders for works by using Pronto
  • Cost track projects and complete end of month process.
  • Ensure records, registers and drawings are kept up to date
  • Assist with the preparation of maintenance budgets and cost control measures
  • Lead junior staff within the engineering and projects team
  • Undertake the duties required for the position in a diligent, competent and timely manner

About you

Whilst you will have the opportunity to join a highly skilled and supportive team you will require the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Structural)
  • A minimum of 10 plus years’ experience in a similar role in mining or heavy industry
  • Communicate ideas clearly and effectively and liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong report writing skills and the ability to keep clear, accurate written documentation
  • The ability to adjust work assignments or schedules to meet changing work priorities
  • Prepare plans for projects or major assignments (including tasks, resources, and time frames)
  • Create and maintain engineering documents including; drawings, equipment certifications, procedures
  • Work with maintenance and reliability teams to strengthen their performance and improve their skills in a particular area; teach people to complete new tasks/procedures successfully
  • The ability to diagnose problems and share solutions to create learning experiences
  • Strong Computer Skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, MS Project and Pronto (or similar)
  • AutoCAD experience (desirable)
  • Financial analysis - NPV, IRR, basic accounting experience
  • Estimating and project cost management
