Metallurgical Superintendent

About the Role

As Superintendent – Metallurgy, you’ll lead the metallurgical, laboratory and gold room functions at Cowal Gold Operation, a flagship site with an extended 20 year mine life.

Reporting to the Processing Manager, you’ll be accountable for metallurgical performance, recovery optimisation and production forecasting, with a strong focus on safety, governance and continuous improvement. This is a high impact leadership role where small gains deliver significant value.

Working on a residential 5:2 / 4:3 roster (10 hour day shifts), you will:

  • Own metallurgical strategy, recovery and plant optimisation
  • Lead metallurgical accounting, forecasting and data governance
  • Oversee gold room operations, security and compliance
  • Drive improvement initiatives across the processing plant
  • Ensure compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code
  • Lead, mentor and develop a skilled metallurgical team

This role offers strong visibility, long‑term stability and the opportunity to materially influence site performance.

 

About You

You’re a technically strong metallurgical leader with deep gold processing experience and the confidence to lead change in a complex operation. You combine technical capability with practical, consistent leadership and a strong safety focus.

This role suits either an experienced Superintendent or a Senior Metallurgist ready to take the next step.

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Process, Chemical or related Engineering discipline
  • Extensive experience across gold processing, including comminution, flotation, CIL and gold room operations
  • Strong capability in metallurgical accounting, forecasting and cost control
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop teams and challenge established practices
  • A proactive, resilient and improvement driven mindset
