Technician - Geology ‎

About the Role

As a Geology Technician at the Cowal Gold Operation, you will play a hands on role supporting safe and effective open pit mining. Working closely with the Grade Control team, you’ll be responsible for collecting and managing geological samples that help accurately define ore and waste boundaries.

This is an entry level field based role, ideal for someone looking to start or build a career in mining. You’ll spend most of your time in the open pit environment, working alongside drill crews and geologists to ensure quality sampling, strong housekeeping standards and safe work practices.

The role offers excellent exposure to mining operations and the opportunity to develop skills that can lead into operator or broader mining roles over time. You’ll be supported by a hands on leader and a team that values safety, teamwork and learning on the job.

About You

You’re a practical, reliable and safety focused individual who enjoys working outdoors and being part of an operational team. You take pride in doing hands on work well, following procedures and contributing positively to site safety and performance.

You will bring:

• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a mining environment
• Comfort working outdoors in variable conditions and undertaking manual tasks
• The ability to follow instructions, procedures and QA/QC processes
• A strong commitment to safety, housekeeping and team standards
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
  
  

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Previous exposure to mining, exploration or labour intensive environments
• A valid Australian driver’s licence
• A forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
• Basic computer skills (e.g. Excel) - training can be provided

• Backgrounds in farming, labouring, drilling support, or similar hands on roles are well suited to this opportunity.

This roster is 7:7, 12 hour day and night shifts.
