 About the role

 

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist the purpose of this role is to provide analysis services used to assess processing plant efficiency and maintain environmental compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Ensuring laboratory compliance with safety and environmental policies
  • Conducting inspections to identify and correct workplace hazards and equipment failures
  • Maintaining high standards of laboratory housekeeping
  • Collecting, preparing, and analysing routine samples promptly
  • Reporting plant sample issues to Plant Metallurgist and Senior Metallurgist
  • Calibrating and maintaining plant analytical equipment, troubleshooting errors, and maintaining accurate records
  • Upholding health, safety, statutory, regulatory, and licensing standards, and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout Evolution

About you

 

Previous experience in gold processing plants is advantageous but not essential. The ideal candidate will have experience with and enjoy working with people. You must be able to always work safely. It is essential that you are a team player with strong organisational skills and can communicate effectively and in a positive manner with peers, supervisory personnel and other stakeholders. In this role you must be able to adhere to shift schedule and working hours.

 

 

To be considered for this role it is desirable that you have, the following:

 

  • Post-secondary training in relevant discipline (desirable)
  • Previous experience working in a chemical laboratory is (desirable)
  • Good computer literacy and a competent user of MS Word and Excel 
  • Familiarity in chemicals handling in a lab environment
  • Experience in use of AAS, UV vis spectrophotometer, and Velp Distillation (desirable)
  • Class C driver’s license required
