Located near West Wyalong in central New South Wales, Cowal is a residential site where we encourage our people to live nearby and enjoy the close-knit communities and lifestyles of the surrounding areas.
Your Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of benefits to support your transition and enhance your experience throughout the program. Flights or reimbursement of travel expenses are provided at the beginning and end of the program. Residential housing is provided and subsidized, and transport to site is arranged for you, and you will be fully equipped with all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure your safety and comfort on the job. Candidates who successfully complete the vacation program will be fast-tracked into our graduate program.
This is a 12-week residential program running from December to February, on a roster of 5 days on 2 days off and 4 days on 3 days off.

About the role
The Vacation Student – Contracts & Procurement is a developmental position designed to build commercial and administrative capabilities within the Commercial Supply team. The role provides exposure to contract management, supplier engagement, and procurement systems. Each task is supervised by a contracts or procurement specialist, aligning responsibilities with the student's business acumen and learning goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with preparing and issuing RFQs and tenders
- Reviewing supplier quotes and comparing pricing
- Supporting contract administration and compliance tracking
- Maintaining procurement records and supplier databases
- Participating in supplier meetings and negotiations
- Monitoring delivery schedules and resolving issues
- Collaborating with site teams to forecast procurement needs
About you
The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a degree such as Commerce, Business Law, Economics Project Management or similar degree. Ideally you will have some experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements. You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats. You will be able to uphold high work standards, build strong relationships with peers and leaders, and work independently to meet personal and team goals. A valid manual driver’s licence and willingness to live and work remotely are essential for this role.
