Your Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of benefits to support your transition and enhance your experience throughout the program. Flights or reimbursement of travel expenses are provided at the beginning and end of the program. Residential housing is provided and subsidized, and transport to site is arranged for you, and you will be fully equipped with all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure your safety and comfort on the job. Candidates who successfully complete the vacation program will be fast-tracked into our graduate program.
This is a 12-week residential program running from December to February, on a roster of 5 days on 2 days off and 4 days on 3 days off.

The Vacation Student – Metallurgy is a developmental position designed to build technical capabilities within the processing team through lab and plant-based assignments. The role provides hands-on experience in metallurgical testing, plant monitoring, and process optimisation. Each assignment is supervised by a metallurgist, aligning responsibilities with the student's learning goals and technical interests.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with sampling and assaying of ore, concentrate, and tailings
- Monitoring plant performance and reporting on recovery and throughput trends
- Supporting metallurgical test work including flotation, leaching, and gravity separation
- Participating in daily production meetings and safety briefings
- Conducting data analysis for optimising reagent use and process efficiency
- Performing lab testwork for analysing data and generating reports
- Assisting in monitoring, troubleshooting, and conducting plant sampling or surveys
- Collaborating with operators and engineers for collecting data and improving processes
About you
The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a degree such as Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or similar. Ideally you will have some experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements. You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats. You will be able to uphold high work standards, build strong relationships with peers and leaders, and work independently to meet personal and team goals. A valid manual driver’s licence and willingness to live and work remotely are essential for this role.
