About the role 

 

We're excited to announce two newly created positions to support the growth and expansion of our underground and open pit operations.

 

In 2024, we made a bold move by investing $250 million to expand our processing mill, and the results have been nothing short of exceptional. With commissioning set to begin in March, we're on track to double our annual production, reaching over 200,000 ounces in the years ahead.

 

The team work an 8:6 (12-hour day) roster, Thursday to Thursday, residing in the Kalgoorlie/Boulder area or FIFO from Perth.

 

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer typical daily activities include; 

  • Lead daily geotechnical engineering tasks, including the development of blasting and ground control plans, inspection documentation, data collection, geotechnical monitoring, stability analysis, recommendations, and quality assurance.
  • Provide expert geotechnical support to the mine, ensuring strict compliance with mining regulations, safety standards, and company objectives related to ground control.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly QAQC reports, hazard maps, and monitoring updates to maintain operational transparency.
  • Establish clear SMART performance objectives and targets to ensure efficient and effective results.
  • Oversee the geotechnical and backfill operations with guidance from senior engineers, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Identify and manage geotechnical risks, implementing systems for monitoring and mitigation, including seismic hazard analysis and ground support design for both static and dynamic conditions.
  • Contribute to mine layout and design, ensuring geotechnical factors are effectively optimized for safety and performance.
  • Deliver technical solutions and strategic support by analyzing operational mine data, enhancing life-of-mine plans and driving mine modernization through innovative technologies and systems.
  • Collaborate with excavation design, planning, geological, and operational teams to identify opportunities and address potential concerns.
  • Regularly update and report on rock fall, rock mass deformation, and seismic monitoring databases, ensuring data integrity and relevance.
  • Provide high-quality geotechnical feasibility assessments, advising on design parameters, modelling, and optimal mine design and sequencing.

 

 

About you

 

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with expertise in both underground and surface operations. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have 3+ years of hands-on experience working in underground mining with the following experience.

  • Proven expertise in Project, Cost, and Contractor Management – you know how to keep things on track and running smoothly!
  • Experience in large-scale operations, delivering exceptional results and exceeding customer expectations – you're a results-driven professional ready to take on big projects!
  • A strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 – safety’s your priority.
  • Hands-on experience with cutting-edge numerical modelling software like MAP3D, RS3, EX3, and slope stability analysis software – you're tech-savvy and ready to tackle any challenge.
  • Outstanding people skills – you're a master at building relationships, networking, and influencing others, all while staying true to our core values and principles.
  • A valid Driver’s Licence – ready to get on the road when needed.
