Engineer Geotechnical

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be right in the middle of our underground operations, working closely with production crews to help manage ground conditions and support safe, efficient mining.

You’ll play an important part in spotting geotechnical risks early and providing practical, on-the-ground guidance to keep things running smoothly. With regular time underground and close interaction with crews, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships and make a real impact day to day.

Your work will be varied and engaging, with responsibilities including:

• Providing day-to-day geotechnical support to underground operations
• Monitoring ground conditions and identifying potential risks early
• Carrying out underground inspections, mapping, and data collection
• Supporting and maintaining compliance with ground control management plans and site standards
• Reviewing development and stope designs from a geotechnical perspective
• Working alongside mining and geology teams to ensure standards are understood and applied
• Contributing to incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
• Helping maintain compliance with ground control management plans and reporting requirements

This role offers great exposure to site operations and the chance to directly influence both safety and production outcomes, you’ll see the impact of your work firsthand.

We offer flexibility with either residential or FIFO from Perth on an 8:6 roster (Thursday to Thursday, 12-hour days).

About You

You’re someone who enjoys being close to the action, practical, safety-focused, and comfortable working alongside crews in an operational environment. You build strong working relationships underground, communicate clearly, and use sound judgement to navigate the day-to-day challenges of a fast-paced mining operation.

This role is suited to an early to mid-career Geotechnical Engineer with practical underground experience, who is confident contributing to operational decisions and keen to continue developing their technical capability.

You take pride in your work, back yourself to identify and raise risks early, and aren’t afraid to ask questions or challenge the status quo when it comes to maintaining safe outcomes.

We’re ideally looking for someone with:

• A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline
• Around 2+ years’ experience in underground hard rock mining
• Some exposure to ground control, rock mechanics, or geotechnical monitoring
• Exposure to seismic monitoring systems and geotechnical instrumentation
• Experience with industry software such as Rocscience, Map3D, Deswik, or similar
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn data into practical, on-the-ground recommendations
• A proactive, team-oriented approach with a sense of ownership and accountability
• A current C Class driver’s licence
