About the role
The position is a 7:7(12-hour night shift) roster, available to those residing in Kalgoorlie or willing to relocate within Australia to Kalgoorlie.
Due to the expansion of our operations, we are excited to promote this newly created residential opportunity. Reporting to the Senior Underground Geologist, the role is accountable for ensuring the effective and accurate gathering, coordination, and communication of geological data for optimum ore extraction in our underground mines.
The role is solely focused on night shift operations ensuring the two below tasks are delivered on time with a high level of accuracy.
- underground mapping of ore and waste
- providing direction for ore development headings
In addition to mapping and development, you will also occasionally oversee core processing, including core orientation, meter marking, RQD assessments, photography, sampling, cutting, and dispatch.
These crucial tasks ensure the integrity of geological data and drive the success of night shift operations.
About you
Previous experience working underground is essential, and at least one year of core yard experience is an added advantage.
You will have a mature mindset, stay focused on tasks, and enjoy working independently, managing your own time and priorities.
The key attributes you will also possess include:
- An understanding of mine planning and contractor management
- A general knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and relevant regulations.
- A foundational understanding of geology, QAQC protocols, and diamond drilling core processing.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and the use of an iPad.
- A keen eye for detail and a strong willingness to solve problems.
