Operations Manager Underground - Mungari

.

Who we are

We’re a bold team with a bright future; and we’re looking for people who want to be part of it.

Evolution Mining is a premier global gold company operating five mines across Australia and Canada. We’re transforming mines and uplifting careers. We’ve extended the mine life of our Ernest Henry Operations to 2040 and doubled its ore reserves. We took our Cowal Gold Operations underground in just seven years. We’re transforming our Red Lake Operations, restoring it as a premier Canadian gold mine. That kind of ambition creates careers, not just jobs.

When we asked our people what they enjoy most about working at Evolution, two things came up across every site: career growth and the quality of the people. Here, you’ll work alongside people who care, who push one another to be better, with leaders who are there to support you.

About the role

Flexible location options -— residential from Kalgoorlie or FIFO from Perth.

Mungari is strengthening its underground leadership team with three senior opportunities across the operation. Each role offers a different level of leadership and accountability, from operational leadership through to broader whole-of-underground responsibility.

This is the most senior of three underground leadership opportunities currently available at Mungari, a significant leadership opportunity with accountability for the strategic direction, performance and capability of the Underground Mining function.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will establish the vision and strategy for Underground Mining, translating long-term objectives into a clear operational plan and high-performance culture. You will lead through your senior operational leadership team, creating alignment, accountability and capability across the department.

As an influential member of the site leadership team, you will shape decisions beyond the immediate mining function, partnering across the operation to improve safety, productivity, cost performance and organisational capability. This is a role for a leader who can look beyond today’s production requirements and build the capability and operating model required for Mungari’s future.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Define and communicate the Underground Mining vision, strategy and long-term priorities.
  • Set departmental KPIs, budgets and improvement plans aligned to site objectives.
  • Use performance data, benchmarking and external best practice to identify breakthrough opportunities.
  • Build the capability, accountability and succession of the Underground Mining leadership team.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and collaboration with Technical Services, Maintenance, Geology, HSEC, Commercial and other stakeholders.
  • Sponsor major improvement initiatives and ensure recommendations translate into measurable outcomes.
  • Provide strategic operational insight and advice to the General Manager and broader site leadership team

About you

You are a senior underground mining leader with the breadth of experience and leadership maturity to influence an entire operation. You are comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, setting direction through others while creating the conditions for leaders and teams to perform at their best.

You bring strong commercial and operational judgement, an uncompromising approach to safety and the ability to translate strategy into sustainable performance. You are known for building capable leadership teams, challenging conventional thinking and creating a culture of accountability, trust and continuous improvement.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior leadership experience across underground mining operations.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead through senior operational leaders rather than through direct operational control.
  • Strong strategic, commercial and operational judgement.
  • A track record of improving safety, productivity, cost and operational performance.
  • Experience developing senior leaders, succession pipelines and organisational capability.
  • The ability to influence at site leadership level and build alignment across multiple functions.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a relevant discipline, with appropriate statutory competencies.
  • A First Class Mine Managers Ticket essential
