About the role
With exciting growth happening across our operations, we are now looking for an experienced Project Mine Geologist to join our team, supporting our growing open pit mines at our Mungari Operations:
The Project Mine Geologist is critical to the performance of the Geology Team, mentoring activities, and seeking business improvement opportunities in line with our overall operational plans. Typical duties include:
- Develop, implement, and execute optimal drill programs (grade control, resource definition) to provide accurate delineation of economic mineralisation, and potential extension of economic mineralisation.
- Manage and coordinate all geological open pit drilling activities and geology projects to comply with budgeted allocations, providing input into budget and forecast planning.
- Assisting with supervision and management of geology contractors alongside performing critical analysis (validation) on all drilling, core and chip logging and sampling (QA/QC) to ensure the accuracy of data and thus integrity of the database.
- Assist interpretating grade control data to produce wireframe models, assisting in the production of grade control block models, and ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of mining production and stockpiles as required.
About you
As a passionate Geologist, you demonstrate a ‘safety first’ mindset, strive for excellence, and take accountability. You will be an effective communicator (verbal and written), able to quickly establish rapport with multiple stakeholders, adding value to a collaborative team, being open to constructive feedback, respect opinions and challenge constructively to build trust and create an inclusive environment where everyone can do their best work.
You will be either be a resident of the Kalgoorlie/Boulder area, or FIFO from Perth working an 8:6 (12-hour day) roster, Thursday to Thursday.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in geology or geosciences.
- 3-5 years industry experience in mine geology with preferably 2 years in an open pit environment
- A sound understanding of grade control processes.
- Drilling contractor management experience an advantage
- A sound understanding of geology work standards and practices including grade control processes and relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with modelling software (Datamine, Leapfrog or similar) and database software (acQuire or similar) with OrePro3D skills an advantage.
- Experienced in technical report writing, with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, comfortable with working to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
