About the role 

The Senior Surveyor reports to the Manager Technical Services and is responsible for the collection, control, and management of spatial data, both underground and surface, to support and develop the growth of the Mungari operation.  

Other daily responsibilities include;

• Manage, coach and mentor the Survey team sharing your knowledge to develop their skills and capability, along with the supporting systems.
• Lead and support the development of spatial data systems and processes, including identifying developing technology systems and applications
• Managing the project development of initial surveys and establishing the control for new projects (exploration, permitting, infrastructure, sites)
• Develop and maintain systems to provide spatial control and data collection to the operations and technical teams for the underground and open pit mines, and for the geology and processing functions.
• Ensuring the integrity and serviceability of the instrumentation and other “tools of trade”, by balancing risk with operational requirements.
• Ensuring compliance of the Worker Health Safety (WHS) Act 2020 and (Mines) Regulations 2022, and the Mines Survey Code of Practice
• Lead identification of hazards and risks at early stages and eliminate or engineer controls at the design level.
• Managing the cost management of the surveying function

About you 

• You will be a resident within the Kalgoorlie/Boulder region or able to FIFO from Perth, working an 8:6 – 12-hour day roster.
• You must hold a Tertiary qualification – Degree or Diploma in Surveying (Mine) and be a WA Authorised Mine Surveyor (Grade 1).
• 5+ years mine surveying experience and sound understanding of survey principles.
• Leadership experience of survey teams in open pit and underground mining operations, and remote field operations (ideal).
• Competent with survey hardware and software in mining applications and conversant with developing and evolving technologies.
• Self-directed organised individual, who enjoys working in team to achieve goals.
• Positive attitude toward safety, increase safety awareness, implement safety training, and set an example for others
