About the role
Reporting to the Underground Manager, the Underground Mining Superintendent is responsible for leading the safe, disciplined and efficient execution of underground operations in line with the Short Range Forecast (SRF), budget and Evolution’s standards.
This role is critical in setting the tone for safety and performance. You will translate strategy into clear, executable plans and ensure work is delivered safely, consistently and to a high standard. A key part of your remit will be building capability within your Supervisors, strengthening leadership across crews, and embedding a proactive safety culture where accountability sits at every level.
You will actively remove barriers to performance, maintain a strong underground presence, and drive alignment across development, production and services to deliver on tonnes, metres and compliance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead from the front to build and sustain a strong safety culture, ensuring standards are clearly understood, reinforced and consistently applied.
- Maintain a visible presence in the field, proactively identifying risks, coaching teams and reinforcing safe behaviors.
- Take ownership of incident investigations, ensuring outcomes are thorough, practical and drive meaningful, lasting improvement.
- Deliver the Short Range Forecast (SRF) safely and reliably, with a clear focus on consistency and plan compliance.
- Oversee development, production, ground support, paste fill and services to ensure coordinated and effective execution.
- Drive operational performance by improving cycle times, equipment utilisation and workforce effectiveness.
- Work closely with Technical Services, Geology and Geotechnical teams to ensure plans are practical, aligned and achievable.
- Develop and mentor Supervisors, lifting leadership capability and strengthening accountability across crews.
- Identify and remove systemic constraints to improve safety, productivity and cost performance.
- Maintain clear, timely communication across crews, peers and leadership to ensure alignment and transparency.

About you
You are an experienced underground mining leader with a strong operational mindset and the ability to drive safe, efficient and disciplined execution. Your experience enables you to make informed decisions, influence outcomes and develop the capability of your team. You build culture through your leadership — balancing accountability with coaching, clarity and support.
- 10+ years’ mining experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Underground Supervisor’s Certificate (required).
- First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate — or working towards it (highly regarded).
- Extensive operational experience in underground mining, with strong knowledge of legislation and safety systems.
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary underground teams.
- Strong capability in planning, cost management and operational execution.
- Competence in Pronto, Word and Excel; confident in coaching, feedback and team development.
- C-Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
