About the role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Mine Accountant is responsible for preparation, analysis and reporting of key financial data. This role requires a thorough understanding of mine site accounting and a drive to understand the operational specifics for Mt Carlton Operations. Key result areas in this role include:


  • Accountable for the completion of month end process on site
  • Assist the site leadership team with monthly accruals, allocation, reclassification and coding. Help them understand their costs and drive accountability of their variances to plan through structured meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining the financial model for the Provincial Plan, LOM and Budget
  • Assist in developing Mt Carlton’s operating budgets and monthly/quarterly reforecasts.
  • Assist in creating and interpreting financial models used to support complex business decision with regards to economic viability of site projects.
  • Provide data, and management reporting to the Group Finance team to assist with monthly, quarterly, Mid-year and Year-end management and financial accounts.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance and have completed, or be close to the completion of CPA, CA or ICA. Experience with Pronto or similar software, such as SAP would be advantageous.


As the Senior Mine Accountant, you will have a minimum of five years’ experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within the resources industry and understand procurement and contracts and contract law.


We are searching for an organised, pro-active planner, who has excellent presenting and communication skills. You will be highly numerate individual with the ability to identify trends and pin-point reporting errors rapidly. with the initiative to address problems and follow through to ensure a positive outcome.
