About the role
Reporting to the Underground Electrical Team Leader, the Underground Communications Technician will play a hands-on role maintaining and improving the reliability of our underground communications systems. This new role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key infrastructure while gaining exposure to advanced mining technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting leaky feeder, optical fibre, Wi-Fi, and CCTV systems.
- Ensuring reliable connectivity to support safety, operations, and emergency response.
- Developing and documenting work instructions and preventative maintenance plans.
- Supporting system upgrades, configuration, and integration of new technologies.
- Providing training and technical support to crews across site.
- Committing to maintaining health, safety, and security standards and principles within the workplace.
- Demonstrating behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values.
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a trade qualification in Electrical, Auto-Electrical, or Communications Technology, along with a current driver’s licence. You will bring experience working with wireless networks, digital two-way systems, or leaky feeder infrastructure, and possess ACMA Open Cabling Registration, with endorsements in optical fibre and structured cabling considered desirable. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential, particularly in configuring hardware and networks. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, combined with a collaborative approach, will support success in this role. While previous underground mining experience is highly regarded, it is not essential, and training in optical fibre and CCTV systems will be provided
