About the role

 

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Drill and Blast Engineer will drive the effective delivery of daily drill and blast planning and execution across the sublevel cave. You will be the key technical link between Operations, Technical Services, Maintenance and Mine Leadership, preparing accurate 24‑hour production plans, monitoring compliance to design, and providing timely advice to resolve operational constraints. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical capability and operational insight to optimise production performance and support continuous improvement in underground mining.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Responsible for managing the daily 24-hour production schedule to ensure the most optimal sublevel caving production activities in line of weekly and monthly schedules
  • Monitor drill and charge compliance through QA/QC processes and implement corrective actions where required
  • Monitor blasting execution and postblast performance to ensure quality and identify improvement opportunities
  • Maintaining health, safety and environmental standards across all projects
  • Demonstrating behaviours aligned with Evolution Mining’s values

 

About you

 

You hold a recognised degree in Mining, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering and a full driver’s licence, with experience in underground hard‑rock mining. You bring strong technical capability, particularly in drill and blast or production related work, and you’re confident working with complex systems and data to support safe and efficient daily operations. You’re a proactive problem solver who communicates clearly, collaborates well across teams, and thrives in an autonomous role where you can help drive daily planning, troubleshoot operational issues, and support continuous improvement in a fast paced production environment.
