About the role
Reporting to the Tailings & Water Supervisor, the Equipment Operator is responsible for shaping cyclone-deposited tailings using a D6 swamp bulldozer and compacting rolled zones using an impact roller towed behind a Caterpillar 5E tracked tractor. The role ensures tailings meet construction requirements and maintains bund integrity to prevent mixing of coarse and fine fractions.When bulldozer and tractor operations are not required, the role supports daily tailings operations and compaction testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating D6 swamp bulldozer to maintain inner bund integrity and shape deposition areas
- Using tracked tractor and impact roller to meet compaction requirements
- Liaising with Tailings Engineers to ensure QA/QC documentation is completed
- Maintaining equipment to high standards
- Supporting tailings operations and compaction testing
- Demonstrating behaviours aligned with Evolution Mining values
About you
The ideal candidate will have a High School Certificate and 1–5 years of experience operating bulldozers, preferably in tailings environments. Experience with tracked tractors and GPS systems such as Trimble is highly regarded. A qualification like RIIMPO323 Dozer Operations or equivalent is desirable. You’ll have strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer literacy, and solid literacy and numeracy skills. You work well in a team, communicate clearly, and take pride in maintaining equipment and safety standards. Your reliability and attention to detail will support both equipment operation and broader tailings activities.
