Geologist - Resource Definition

Who we are

We’re a bold team with a bright future; and we’re looking for people who want to be part of it.

Evolution Mining is a premier global gold company operating six mines across Australia and Canada. We’re transforming mines and uplifting careers. We took our Cowal Gold Operations underground in just seven years. We’ve extended the mine life of our Ernest Henry Operations to 2040 and doubled its ore reserves. We’re transforming our Red Lake Operations, restoring it as a premier Canadian gold mine. That kind of ambition creates careers, not just jobs.

When we asked our people what they enjoy most about working at Evolution, two things came up across every site: career growth and the quality of the people. Here, you’ll work alongside people who care, who push one another to be better, with leaders who are there to support you.

What’s the opportunity?

Take ownership of resource definition programs that directly influence the future of one of Australia's most technically interesting copper-gold operations. As our Geologist – Resource Definition, you'll play a key role in unlocking mineral resource potential through drilling programs, geological interpretation, modelling and technical analysis that support both near-term production outcomes and future studies.

Working on a family friendly 5:2/4:3 roster, you'll enjoy a genuine lifestyle balance while gaining exposure across exploration, resource definition, open pit and underground geology. With Northparkes continuing to evolve and expand, this is a career defining opportunity to build broad technical capability alongside other operational disciplines, like engineering and metallurgy, and contribute to the long-term success of the operation.

Based at our Northparkes Operations and reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you'll:

  • Deliver resource definition drilling programs that improve geological confidence and support life of mine planning
  • Transform geological, geochemical and geophysical data into meaningful interpretations, resource upgrades and business decisions
  • Develop and maintain high quality geological models using modern software and industry best practice
  • Provide accurate technical reporting and geological insights that support studies, resource estimation and future growth opportunities
  • Contribute to safe, efficient and high quality geological data collection, validation and QAQC processes across the operation

Why Northparkes Operations?

Big things are happening at Northparkes. With our E22 Underground Project underway, we’re entering an exciting phase of growth that will underpin an extended mine life underground. This is your opportunity to be part of a career defining project, build new capabilities and contribute to one of Australia’s most exciting block cave development projects. At Northparkes, you don’t have to choose between a great career and a great lifestyle; you’ll get both. With flexible work options, opportunities to grow and a team that cares, this is where your bright future starts.

What we offer you

We support, develop and reward you to ensure you have a bright future. Here’s how we back that up:

  • Life insurance and income protection

Does this sound like you?

This role will suit a geologist who enjoys being close to the data and taking ownership of the full resource definition process. You'll be comfortable moving between drill program execution, detailed core logging, data validation, geological interpretation and modelling, while turning technical information into outcomes that support the operation's future growth.

  • A tertiary honours or above level qualification in Geology or Geoscience
  • At least 3 years' experience within an operating mine or active resource stage exploration environment
  • Demonstrated experience across the end to end resource definition workflow, including geological logging, drilling data management, QAQC, interpretation and resource modelling.
  • Strong capability using geological software such as Leapfrog Geo and QGIS
  • An understanding of resource estimation principles, ore deposit styles and JORC reporting requirements
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly
  • A current manual C Class Driver's Licence

Experience within copper-gold, base metals or porphyry environments will be highly regarded, as will exposure to underground or surface diamond drilling programs and acQuire geological databases.
