About the role

 

Reporting to the Senior Plant Metallurgist, the Metallurgist Technician Trainee will support the technical team with practical tasks and data collection while completing all requirements of the traineeship program. This role is also responsible for completing basic care and maintenance on the various analysers and troubleshooting any downtime.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing all traineeship assignments and practical components
  • Assisting with operational support tasks such as equipment inspections, sampling activities, surveys, laboratory preparation and data analysis
  • Collecting and managing data to support technical projects
  • Working collaboratively with plant and lab teams to achieve training and operational goals
  • Support site personnel and external contractors servicing equipment

 

 

About you

 

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and keen to learn in a hands-on technical environment, bringing a positive attitude and strong work ethic to the role. You will demonstrate basic computer skills across tools such as Word, Excel, and Teams, alongside strong literacy and numeracy capabilities, including the mathematical competency required for technical tasks. A current driver’s licence is essential to enable safe and reliable site access. Most importantly, they will show a genuine commitment to working safely, following procedures, and contributing to a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
