What’s the opportunity?
This is a rare opportunity to join one of Australia's few specialist Mineralogy Laboratories and develop highly sought after technical expertise in advanced mineralogical analysis.
As our Mineralogy Technician, you'll play an important role in supporting mineralogical testing and analysis across the Northparkes operation. Working closely with an experienced team, you'll prepare samples for cutting edge technologies including X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), helping generate insights that support metallurgy, mine planning, geology and operational decision making.
Whether you're already working in a laboratory environment or have strong sample preparation experience and are looking to build specialised skills, this role offers extensive training and development within a supportive team environment.
Reporting to the Senior Mineralogist, you'll:
- Prepare and process mineralogy samples for XRD and SEM analysis
- Support mineralogical testing that informs operational and technical decisions
- Deliver high-qu lity laboratory work safely and efficiently
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the laboratory
- Develop specialist knowledge through structured training and mentorship

Does this sound like you?
- Experience in laboratory, mineral processing or sample preparation environments
- Knowledge of sample preparation techniques such as crushing, splitting, milling or pulverising
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement
- The ability to work collaboratively within a close knit team
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
Highly regarded:
- Certificate IV or higher in Laboratory Techniques
- Experience with XRD, SEM or mineralogical analysis
- Experience working within mining, mineral processing or metallurgy environments
- Exposure to LIMS or laboratory data systems
