Mining Engineer - Studies

About the Role

As a Mining Engineer – Studies, you will play a key role in delivering high quality mining studies that support major business decisions across project stages, from concept through PFS and FS. Embedded within a collaborative Technical Services team, this role offers rare exposure to underground block caving studies, strategic Life of Mine planning, and a large scale expansion project.

Working closely with geology, geotechnical, ventilation, and operations teams, you will contribute technical analysis, mine designs, schedules, and clear reporting outputs that inform safe, value driven outcomes. A strong focus on ventilation inputs within block cave studies means this role will suit an engineer with developing or established ventilation capability who is keen to build depth in technically complex environments.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your studies and strategic planning capability while working alongside highly experienced block caving specialists within a multi‑disciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to mining studies, including timelines, work programs and technical inputs
  • Supporting Life‑of‑Mine and strategic mine planning activities, with specific input into development and production scheduling, ventilation and costing aspects of block cave studies
  • Mine and strategic mine planning activities
  • Preparing technical reports, documentation and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicating study outcomes and recommendations clearly and effectively
  • Upholding high standards of health, safety and compliance in line with Evolution Mining values

This role is based in Parks, NSW, with relocation support available.

About You

You are a motivated Mining Engineer with a strong foundation in underground hard rock mining and a genuine interest in studies, strategy, and long term mine planning. You enjoy working in technically complex, collaborative environments and are keen to continue developing your expertise in block caving and ventilation‑informed study work.

You will bring:

  • A Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Block caving experience (essential)
  • Ventilation & Scheduling exposure within underground mining, ideally supporting studies or planning activities
  • Experience contributing to mining studies and/or strategic or LOM planning
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills, with confidence preparing technical reports
  • Exposure to mine planning software such as Deswik and ideally PCBC / PCBC VentSim
  • A proactive, learning focused mindset aligned with Evolution Mining’s values of Safety, Excellence, Accountability and Respect

This role will suit someone looking to strengthen their studies experience, build depth in block caving and ventilation‑related engineering, and work alongside industry‑leading specialists within a supportive, development‑focused team.
