This roster is a 5/2/4/3 - 38 hr week. This role is a residential position within the Parkes local area.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer / Study leader, the purpose of this position is to collaborate with our team of technical specialists to provide mine planning, ventilation, geological and geotechnical analysis, and financial evaluation. The position entails the responsibility of developing long-term designs and schedules for study projects, ensuring alignment with the production plan.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering mine design and schedule for the mining studies as well as supporting the operation when required with weekly and monthly schedules, ensuring total development and construction is aligned with production schedule and inclusive of ventilation strategy, considerations for production and mine planning optimisation
• Delivering cost estimations of capital and operational expenditures
• Co-ordinating consultants and provide data for consultant’s component of studies
• Identifying and assessing potential hazard and risk during the execution of the project and life of mine
• Ensuring all procedures and processes are documented and aligned with the regulatory requirements and mining best practice
• Providing advice and consulting with stakeholders throughout the mine design process to ensure due consideration for all aspects of the project and eventual handover to mining operations for execution

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a relevant mining degree and solid experience in underground hard-rock mining, specifically in life of mine or strategic planning. Membership in a recognized professional organization, such as AIG, SEG, or AusIMM, is essential. Knowledge of sub-level caving or block caving design and construction is highly regarded. A strong understanding of mining-related costs and cost estimation skills is desirable. You must demonstrate a high degree of computer literacy, particularly with MS Office, and be an advanced user of mine design, planning, and scheduling 3D software such as Deswik or Datamine. A manual driver’s license is also required.
