What’s the opportunity?

This is a rare opportunity to shape the geology function of a new open pit operation from the very beginning.

As our Senior Mine Geologist, you'll play a critical role in establishing and leading the grade control strategy for the E28 open pit development. You’ll influence how ore is defined, tracked and reconciled, while helping build the systems, processes and team that support safe, efficient and profitable mining operations.

Working a family friendly 5:2/4:3 roster with 9 hour days, you'll enjoy a great lifestyle balance while contributing to one of Northparkes most exciting growth projects. This is more than a production geology role. It’s an opportunity to help develop a new operation and leave a lasting legacy across future open pit developments. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll:

• Lead grade control and reconciliation strategies that maximise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
• Build and continuously improve grade control systems that support operational excellence and informed decision-making.
• Develop and mentor a high performing geology team while creating strong operational partnerships across mining, processing and technical services.
• Deliver geological analysis, QAQC programs and production reporting that drive operational performance and future planning outcomes.
• Influence the future of Northparkes open pit strategy through technical leadership and collaboration.

Does this sound like you?

• A Geological Degree or closely related discipline
• A current Manual Driver's Licence
• Experience in production geology and grade control systems
• Strong understanding of reconciliation, ore tracking and QAQC processes
• Experience leading, mentoring or developing geology teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Highly regarded:

• Experience with mine geology production reconciliation and depletion systems
• Geological database management and statistical analysis capability
• Surface and underground drilling exposure
• Experience supporting mine planning, feasibility studies or operational improvement initiatives
