Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Open Pit
Who we are
We’re a bold team with a bright future; and we’re looking for people who want to be part of it.
Evolution Mining is a premier global gold company operating six mines across Australia and Canada. We’re transforming mines and uplifting careers. We took our Cowal Gold Operations underground in just seven years. We’ve extended the mine life of our Ernest Henry Operations to 2040 and doubled its ore reserves. We’re transforming our Red Lake Operations, restoring it as a premier Canadian gold mine. That kind of ambition creates careers, not just jobs.
When we asked our people what they enjoy most about working at Evolution, two things came up across every site: career growth and the quality of the people. Here, you’ll work alongside people who care, who push one another to be better, with leaders who are there to support you.
What’s the opportunity?
Here's your opportunity to help shape the future of Northparkes next open pit development. As the Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Open Pit, you will provide geotechnical leadership for the development of the E28NE open pit, influencing key design, risk management and operational decisions from project establishment through to production.
As the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing and supporting a major greenfield mining project. Working closely with mining, geology and project stakeholders, you will provide geotechnical expertise that directly influences pit design, slope performance, operational safety and long-term asset value.
Working a family friendly 5:2/4:3 roster with 9 hour days, you'll enjoy a great lifestyle balance while contributing to a project that will have a lasting impact on Northparkes future. With multiple open pit developments planned across the operation, this role provides a unique opportunity to influence Northparkes long-term open pit strategy and contribute to future growth projects beyond E28NE.
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent – Open Pit, you'll:
- Provide technical leadership and assurance for slope stability, ground control and pit wall performance throughout the mine life.
- Influence the safe design, development and performance of a new open pit mining operation.
- Deliver geotechnical monitoring, analysis and recommendations that support safe operational decision-making.
- Develop and enhance geotechnical systems, hazard controls and TARPs that improve site-wide risk management.
- Partner with mining, geology, survey and contractor teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to the establishment of a high-performing technical team and future Northparkes growth projects.

At Northparkes, you don’t have to choose between a great career and a great lifestyle; you’ll get both.
