About the role

The Sustaining Capital Superintendent reports directly to the Manager Asset Management and leads the Sustaining Capital Team within the Asset Management Department. The role is responsible for the NPM capital program, including oversight of the capital budget and associated reporting, managing the CEA development and approvals process, and implementing the sustaining capital portfolio. This includes the following stages in the project life cycle: feasibility, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining safe operations by ensuring all activities undertaken by the Sustaining Capital Team (including contractors) comply with legislation, Australian Standards and site policies.
• Delivering capital projects and engineering outcomes through managing project principles/procedures, schedule, budget, and engineering standards, ensuring customer requirements are met and returns on capital investments are obtained.
• Maintaining and developing the skills and expertise of the Sustaining Capital Team through developing systems, processes, and training programs to ensure high-quality outcomes from capital projects.
• Overseeing the capital portfolio and associated reporting, managing the CEA development and approvals process, and implementing the sustaining capital portfolio.

About you

You will have a university degree in Engineering or equivalent, with significant experience in technical and or project management roles within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry. It is essential have demonstrable leadership and project management experience, contract management experience, and a strong understanding of project controls. Business Administration or Leadership, project management qualifications are highly regarded, as is professional accreditation with industry bodies such as AusIMM and/or IE Aus (CPEng or RPEQ).
