About the role

The Ventilation Engineer is a critical link between the underground workers and the mine operations technical team to exchange information relating to ventilation technical plans, conditions experienced underground, compliance and performance to plan.

You will provide your technical expertise and advice to underground personnel and taking on board their feedback to drive performance improvements and innovative problem solving.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct regular primary, secondary and static monitoring surveys and communicate findings in reports
• Ensure compliance of ventilation system with the NSW regulations
• Provide ventilation modelling support for medium- and long-term planningOptimise the current ventilation system to provide cost savings where possible
• Ensure current calibration and maintenance of all ventilation equipment such as gas monitors, static monitoring stations and measurement devices.
• Assist Senior Mining Engineer with other relevant tasks as required
• Role coverage for short term development scheduling, block cave production and drill and blast when required

About you

• Industry experience in an operation, technical or project role in mining, mineral processing or heavy industry is highly desired
• Knowledge of mine ventilation practices, software (VentSim) and air quality monitoring is necessary
• Strong report writing skills is a requirement
• Ability to work in a team environment and have effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of the mining industry with site-based experience is highly desirable
• BEng in Mining Engineering or equivalent
