About the role
Additionally, you will maintain land positions in good standing by ensuring compliance to existing agreements, upholding tax obligations, and distributing assessment credits as dictated by the Mining Act.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Coordinate and assist various stakeholders to acquire, maintain and dispose of required lands for operational functions of the Red Lake Operation and exploration.
- Ensure legal compliance with existing land use and access agreements, easements, rental agreements, royalty reporting, joint-ventures, First Nations agreements, etc.
- Maintain strict land management database protocol using industry best practices.
- Liaise with accounting personnel to maintain municipal and provincial taxes.
- Ensure all Red Lake Operations land tenure in good standing.
- Assist exploration superintendent with competitor monitoring for available staking.
- Liaise with other stakeholders involved in land management issues including accounting, sustainability and the Municipality of Red Lake.
- Foster responsible communication to community regarding exploration activities, ensuring surface rights holders and public are notified.
- Assist geologists in completing assessment reports, including expenditure and figures, if required.
- Assist geologists in submission of exploration plans and permits, in compliance with the Mining Act and the Endangered Species Act.
- Assist exploration superintendent with administration duties.
- Identify and mitigate social and safety hazards related to land activities.
- Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to achieve our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About you
As the Land Administrator, you will need to have a minimum Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma and must be a Canadian Citizen. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Exploration or mining experience is beneficial
- Legal or accounting background is advantageous
- Knowledge of land jurisdictions outside of Ontario beneficial
- Knowledgeable in exploration and mining processes
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Mining Act
- Computer savvy, especially with GIS software and databases
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Extensive knowledge of MLAS and Ontario government databases
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Good report-writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
- Competent written and verbal communication skills
- Good time management skills and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Meticulous and detail-oriented
- Well organized
- Flexible team player
- Works effectively with minimal supervision
- Possesses a strong work ethic
- Self-motivated
- Accountable self-starter
