About the role

 

As the Advisor Environmental, this role focuses on ensuring our Red Lake Operations site water monitoring and reporting, complies with all federal and provincial regulatory requirements, while maintaining and promoting responsible environmental management.

The position will be on an 5/2/4/3 (9.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario. We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth.

Key result areas in this role include:

  • Collect and monitor environmental data (surface water, ground water) in accordance with government sampling and monitoring criteria.
  • Manage environmental surface and ground water database
  • Prepare monthly effluent compliance reports and ensure accurate reporting of all required data for internal, corporate, and governmental reports (MERS, MEWS, WTRS) meeting permit/regulatory submission deadlines.
  • Carry out environmental inspections of all groundwater wells and surface water sampling locations to ensure safe environment.
  • Participate in quarterly tailings governance meetings, supporting the mill team in tailings management and water treatment as required.
  • Collaborate with consultants to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting deadlines.
  • Assist in training, developing and scheduling of summer student as required.
  • Implement and maintain environmental programs and policies related to Evolution’s Sustainability Performance Standards.
  • Provide environmental advice to workforce.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with various environmental monitoring programs (e.g., ECA, MDMER, etc.).
  • Support application for environmental permits (and/or renewals) when required.
  • Participate in monthly budget reconciliation for environmental programs including
  • laboratory services, equipment and maintenance costs.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

About you

As the Environmental Advisor, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in environmental science, other environmental disciplines, or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.  It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:       

  • 2 -3 years’ experience in environmental approvals and environmental management
  • Relevant mine site experience
  • Federal and Provincial Environmental legislation and regulations
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Capable of following written procedures with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent prioritization and time management abilities
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to adapt well to constant change
  • Valid Class G driver’s license
  • Valid Boaters License
  • Valid First Aid
  • Data Management using MonitorPro software preferred
  • Report Writing
  • Familiar with Safety and Environmental legislation in Ontario
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehends and can interpret technical reports
  • Capable of working with and understanding budgets
  •
