About the role

The Electrician role offers the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill set in a diverse work environment. You will be responsible for the safe installation, repair and maintenance of electrical infrastructure across our surface operations. You will work with a vast range of electrical infrastructure inlcuding, substations, processing mills, hoists, distribution systems, communication and monitoring systems.

 

The roster will be 7 days on and 7 days off, 12 hour shifts and is a local residential role. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical systems and components of machinery and equipment
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment of repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Maintain electrical prints and documentation 
  • Assist in the training of apprentices and procedures and demonstrate safe electrical practices 
  • Provide expertise and suggestions on project improvements
  • Partake in training sessions to keep up to date with equipment and infrastructure on site
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations 
  • Work with a 115kV mine owned power line and substation
  • Maintain seven (7) 44kV surface distribution substations 
  • Support two (2) operating processing mills with advanced automation and instrumentation 
  • Service thee (3) active headframes and seven (7) mine hoists
  • Work with fiber optics, radio, seismic and other communication systems
  • Assist with other duties as required.

 

About you

As an Electrician, you will possess a valid Journeyperson Electrician Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate. You will have a post-secondary qualification in an electricity-related program or have acquired qualifications of the trade by progressively advancing through an apprenticeship program in order to become certified. 

 

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

  • Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Solid comprehension and ability to comprehend and read technical drawings
  • Well-developed ability to comprehend and interpret electrical operations and manuals 
  • Sound understanding of code books and electrical regulations 
  • Good working knowledge of computerised maintenance systems 
  • Highly safety oriented 
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work on a rotational shiftwork basis
  • Ability to work effectively alone and in a team environment.
