About the role
The Senior Advisor – People & Culture providing a high level of professional human resources advice and assistance to the site P&C leadership (Superintendent and Manager) and other departmental managers. The main function of the position is to coordinate the efficient and effective delivery of routine HR operational services and ad-hoc requirements, while also leading the implementation of site and Group P&C initiatives.
The position will be on a 5 days on / 2 days off / 4 days on / 3 days off roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario (NO FIFO/NO CAMP). We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Provide a high-level of support to the Superintendent P&C and the Manager P & C and assist in developing and implementing departmental strategic business objectives
- Development, review and communication of Group and site HR policies and procedures
- In conjunction with Group Recruitment, coordinate site recruitment and selection processes and provide advice and support to Hiring Leads
- Provide expert advice and operational support in areas such as performance management, disciplinary procedures, grievance investigation and resolution, and application of P&C policies and procedures
- Assist to manage the site annual performance review and talent management process
- Conduct induction/orientation processes for new employees to ensure they fully understand their new work areas and general administration processes and procedures
- Participate in various P&C projects and initiatives, leading specific projects where required
- Coordinate and support various site wide training and career development initiatives including leadership development programs, graduate programs, vacation student programs, and apprentice/trainee programs
- Provide P&C leadership with accurate information for weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting, including participating in budget planning and review
- Communicate and/or escalate, in a prompt manner, any issues or areas of concern where such issues may impact on the P&C function and/or the site
- Maintain effective relations with payroll and ensure the coordination and efficient management of the site payroll function including timely and accurate instructions for monthly pay changes, routine reporting and audit compliance
- Assist Health & Safety department with injury management and workers compensation claims when required
- Prepare for, and attend, weekly P&C team meetings to communicate progress on projects and initiatives and inform the P&C team of any matters of concern
- Provide advice and assistance on relocations and employee housing matters, including the coordination of housing allocations and movements as required from time to time
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, security and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines
- Consistently demonstrate leadership through behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining core values and leadership principles
About you
As a Senior Advisor – People & Culture, you will ideally have at minimum a College Diploma related to Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or other related fields. CHRP/CHRL designation is not required but is considered desirable.
It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Previous Human Resources experience in Mining Industry is desirable
- Previous experience using HRIS (Success Factors) is also considered an asset
- Understanding of Employment Standards Act, Human Rights legislation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other relevant legislations
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Adaptive and responsive to change with the ability to handle a fast paced work environment
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience with accounting, budgeting, and remuneration process is also desirable
