About the role

The Graduate – Commercial and Finance position plays a key supporting role in the financial and commercial operations of RLO. This position is designed to provide a structured learning experience, exposing the graduate to core business functions such as performance reporting, budgeting, cost control, procurement, supply chain and IT. The role contributes to the efficient and effective management of site resources, ensuring alignment with operational goals and corporate standards.

Through hands-on involvement in day-to-day activities and strategic projects, the graduate will develop a strong understanding of the mining business, financial systems, and commercial decision-making. The role also fosters cross-functional collaboration, providing opportunities to work with operations and corporate teams.

This two-year Graduate Program is designed to develop personal, technical and commercial skills. Graduates are given exposure to different areas of the mine, and the corporate office to provide them with a whole of business perspective. After a successful completion of the program, our goal is to place students in full-time permanent positions.

The key result areas in this role include:

Finance

  • Prepare General Journal transactions and Balance Sheet Reconciliations, including compilation of all supplementary evidence.
  • Assist the Finance team in the completion of the End of Month Accounting tasks.
  • Support Accounts Payable vendor invoice approval and payment processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly payroll time audit documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of the weekly cashflow forecasts.

 

Procurement & Contracts

  • Prepare spend analysis and compile sourcing documents for market testing.  
  • Maintain contracts register and ensure information is current, accurate and complete.
  • Participate in and support end to end sourcing activities in accordance with established policies and procedures and participate in negotiations to establish effective supply arrangements with preferred vendors.  
  • Contribute to process improvements and training development

 

Supply Chain

  • Performing warehouse tasks including, but not limited to, picking and receipting of material items.
  • Participate in and support the annual stocktaking processes.
  • Assistance with the organization of obsolete materials

 

Information Technology

  • Provide first-line Help Desk and technical support to end users.
  • Assist with the security testing of new applications prior to deployment.
  • Create basic IT documents and procedures for end users and stakeholders.

 

Complete other tasks as assigned by the Commercial Manager.

 

About you

As the Graduate Commercial and Finance student, you must have graduated within the last three years from a Post Secondary Education in the Business, Finance or Commercial space. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:    

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite of programs – Word and Excel
