Head Lifeguard

 

The Head Lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants in pool related activities.    Additional responsibilities will include ensuring pool related policies and procedures are met and a high level of customer and employee relations are achieved.

 

  • Roster:  Local - 5 days on, 2 days off, evenings and weekends as needed

About our operation

Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project.

 

About the role

The Head Lifeguard offers an exceptional opportunity to supervise, train and mentor pool staff while ensuring a safe and caring environment within our facilities.

 

Key result areas in this role include:

  • Supervise and evaluate Lifeguard staff
  • Facilitate staff training and regular pool meetings
  • Complete reports and maintain records, as required
  • Facilitate the completion of all pool related cleaning requirements
  • Perform pool safety checks and report issues to the Facility Coordinator
  • Supervise swimmers during a variety of pool related activities
  • Teach water safety lessons and other programming, as required
  • Maintain the safety of customers at all times
  • Provide education on incident prevention to both swimmers and staff
  • Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures for the pool, be able to carry out safe rescues and administer first aid, when required, and be able to train staff on emergency response procedures
  • Maintain good customer and employee relations through positive interactions with participants and staff.

 

About you

As a Head Lifeguard, you are at least 18 years of age or older and with a Secondary School Diploma.  It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:

 

  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification
  • Updated Standard First Aid Certification with strong emergency response and critical thinking
  • Swim Instructor Certification (current)
  • Lifesaving and Lifeguard Instructor and Examiner Certification (an asset)
  • 3 years + experience in an aquatic environment
  • Leadership experience and a positive mental attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
