About the role

The Lead Hand Mill role offers the opportunity for you to be responsible for efficiently operating processing plant circuits in one of the two (2) mills, ensuring safe and optimal performance.

The roster will be 7 days on and 7 days off (12 hours) and is a residential role. We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth.

Key result areas will include:

• Safely start up, operate and shutdown all equipment within your area of responsibility.
• Troubleshoot and correct problems within your area of responsibility.
• Train other operators in the plant and partake in training upgrades.
• Conduct general clean-up throughout the circuit, reporting potential safety hazards and production problems.
• Support the Mill Supervisor during vacation or leave periods.
• Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
• Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As the Lead Hand Mill, you will have a Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma.  

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

• Experience working in the Mill and operating at various Mill Operator positions. 
• Mill Common Core.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent ability to navigate through various computer program screens and applications.
• Works well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Competent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organisational and prioritisation abilities.
• Strong ability to multi-task and manage competing demands.
• Possesses a strong work ethic, self motivation and initiative.
• Flexible team player.
• Good decision making and problem solving capabilities.
