About the role

The Operator Charge Up is responsible for charging of production and/or development headings with explosives to pre-designed blast patterns at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operations.  This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy.

The position will be on a 7/7 or 14/14 (12 – hour day) roster and is based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.  This role is not eligible for camp or Fly-in, Fly-out. 

We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $114,589 to $155,032 CAD.

Key result areas in this role include:

• Perform duties of Operator Charge Up and other duties as assigned by your supervision within your qualifications
• Specific duties may include: charging and firing production and development headings; completing pre blast and post blast checks; washing, scaling down the area after blasting; when required, assisting with installation and maintenance of underground services; and when required, assisting service crew or other equipment operators.
• Train and successfully demonstrate ability to operate and obtain required Ontario Common Core Modules
• Consistently work in a safe and conscientious manner and comply with all safety procedures
• Wear all required personal protective equipment
• Observe experienced workers to gain and increase knowledge of methods, procedures, and performance standards
• Report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor
• Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free
• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
• Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures

About you

As an Operator Charge Up, you will possess a Secondary School Graduation Diploma, and have successfully completed all relevant Ontario Common Core training modules to be an Operator Charge Up, specifically including Mobile Blasting.  It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:         

• Ability to demonstrate competence to perform all skills acquired as Operator Charge Up
• Able to competently perform all skills progressively acquired, leading up to the role of Operator Charge Up
• Good physical fitness with the ability to work in an underground environment
• Competent communication abilities
• Knowledge of underground mining procedures
• Willing to work on a rotational shiftwork basis
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and interact with others
• Willing and able to follow instructions
• Willing to share knowledge and experience with others
• Able to work effectively alone and in a team environment
• Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills
