About the role
The Operator Jumbo is responsible for drilling faces using a Jumbo Drill and other mining equipment underground at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation. This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy.
The position will either be on a 7/7 or 14/14 (12 - hour day) roster and has access to FIFO.
We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $127,041 to $171,879 CAD.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Perform duties of Operator Jumbo and other duties as assigned by your supervision within your qualifications
- Specific duties may include inspecting work area and ensuring adequate ventilation and ground support; washing, barring down, and scaling work area; inspecting and servicing equipment; operating mining equipment; collaring and drilling holes and ordering of adequate parts and consumables; line & grade and face preparation
- Train and successfully demonstrate ability to operate and obtain required Ontario Common Core Modules
- Consistently work in a safe and conscientious manner and comply with all safety procedures
- Wear all required personal protective equipment
- Observe experienced workers to gain and increase knowledge of methods, procedures, and performance standards
- Report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor
- Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
About you
As an Operator Jumbo, you will possess a Secondary School Graduation Diploma and have successfully completed all relevant Ontario Common Core training modules to be an Operator Jumbo. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Able to competently perform all skills progressively acquired to the role of Operator Jumbo
- Ability to read and understand mining prints and shoot lines
- Good physical fitness with the ability to work in an underground environment
- Competent communication abilities
- Sound knowledge of underground mining procedures
- Ability or ability to obtain skills and modules to perform drilling and bolting rounds with the Jumbo
- Ontario Common Core Modules specific to blasting
- Willing to work on a rotational shiftwork basis
- Hard working and conscientious
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and interact with others
- Willing and able to follow instructions
- Self motivated
- Willing to share knowledge and experienced with others
- Able to work effectively alone and in a team environment
- Flexible team player
- Acts like a leader and mentor to new miners and Jumbo offsiders
